The street at home

«The street at home» is an open series where a process of decontextualization of certain urban elements is applied in order to take them inside the protected space of art first and then to the bourgeois home. It is about marketing the underground, redesigning the protest and offering it as a decorative aesthetic object, simulating the mechanism used by the system to assimilate its counterculture and converting it into another product, under the alibi of plurality.

“Another example also very characteristic of their way of proceeding is the series of interventions titled «The street at home», in which the brand makes available to the consumer, as an aesthetic design object, the products of mere street protest, the graffiti. In this case the irony is twofold, by offering industrially produced what is nothing more than a purely manual and compulsive reaction of rejection, and by introducing as an object of consumption what is supposed to face consumerism”.
